Even the largest game development studios are not spared from cyber attacks as Ubisoft was recently hacked.
The Hacker News reported that the French video game company confirmed it was a victim of a cybersecurity incident which caused temporary disruptions to its games, systems and services.
Why are game development studios often the targets of attacks?

Sensitive data – Companies that create online games have access to sensitive personal data from players, including payment details that support in game purchases.

Intellectual Property / Cheating – A Leaked Code Base allows players to create cheats giving them an unfair advantage over other players, allowing them to even reap financial rewards from their advantage. The consequences can be severe as the game loses credibility and a large number of players will stop playing, draining the financial resources of the company.
