Preparing for NIS2: Context, Implications and Requirements

Cybersecurity has transitioned from a technical concern to a cornerstone of organizational resilience. As governments globally recognize the criticality of cyber resilience, new legislations are emerging to ensure businesses and consumers are protected.

The NIS2 Directive is one of those new legislations that requires organizations of a certain size in sectors essential to society to be better prepared to deal with an increasing variety of cyber threats and cyber incidents.

To provide clarity and demystify the complexities surrounding the NIS2 Directive, we invite you to our upcoming webinar on June 4th, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, where our experts Eric De Smedt and Dean De Blieck break down the NIS2 Directive and provide you with the right guidance to become compliant.

This webinar is tailored to the challenges that companies in the Food sector will face due to this legislation, ensuring they are well aware of the requirements and possibilities. Still, our experts provide useful information suited to all sectors that will be affected by the NIS2 Directive. Whether you’re a cybersecurity veteran or just beginning your journey towards compliance, this webinar offers a “getting started” guide to navigate the new legislative landscape.

To top it all off, by registering and attending the webinar, you’ll have the chance to win a free discovery workshop conducted by our expert Toreonites!

The agenda

Our deep dive in 3 steps

1

NIS2 Introduction

We will explore the scope, the reasoning, and the obligations. Furthermore, we will guide you through the self-assessment, which determines if you need to comply and if so what your target level is.

2

Leveraging existing processes from other sector regulations

NIS2 is not the first regulation that the food sector faces. Can you leverage existing practices and/or processes to accelerate your NIS2 compliance?

3

Proactive Steps Towards Compliance

We will offer an overview of the options on how to comply along with the associated timelines set forth by the regulation.

The speakers

Meet our panel of experts

Maxim Baele is a dedicated cybersecurity expert with a foundation in Linux system engineering, automation, and CI/CD infrastructure.

Committed to integrating security across organizational layers, Maxim has experience translating cybersecurity standards into pragmatic policies, processes, and system requirements.

He serves as a board member for OWASP BE and is a core team member of the OWASP SAMM project.

Dean De Blieck brings a blend of technical savvy and strategic insight into making connected digital assets cyber-resilient. His background gave him not only hands-on experience in technical implementations and architecture but also in cybersecurity governance and strategies.

Having been a network and security architect, Dean has navigated diverse environments and as such he’s no stranger to the complexities and restraints of securing industrial (OT) components and (IoT and IIoT) networks. He’s passionate about helping both private companies and public entities fortify digital assets, which were originally never designed to be connected, but are now ever more often required to be ‘online’.

With his pragmatic approach, he now guides entities towards upcoming legislation like NIS2 and CRA, ensuring compliance but more importantly, also offering a broader cyber resilience in an ever-changing threat landscape.

Abdelbarie Ahankour is a DPO and privacy consultant. He has a special interest in Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), and is an expert in the field of GDPR.

Given his education as a Master of Laws, he has a strong legal background, strong analytical skills and can easily find his way through the legal landscape.

As a consultant, he is mainly focused on Privacy/GDPR, ISO27001, 27002 and 27701 (ISMS & PIMS). Abdelbarie is active as an external DPO for several companies.

Eric De Smedt is a renowned security veteran with over 30 years of experience.

Starting his career at EDS in 1988 as a systems engineer, he was involved in many different security projects and roles including development, performing assessments, building security architectures, delivering incident response and forensic services, and much more.

He then switched to Telenet where he was the CISO for 4 years. Since 2019, Eric has been a principal information security consultant in the GRC area. Since 2020, he has been heading up the GRC team at Toreon. He also teaches one of the modules in the Certified CISO training program of Data Protection Institute
